Crafting new things is my soul. I live to create new things and learn new skills. Paper folding has been an ambition but I'm not very good at it. My brother, on the other hand, is amazing at origami. So, when I saw these paper templates (here and here) at Michaels I knew I had to have them.
I obtained the card stock from Michaels during their Christmas clearance event. I got two paper pads which contained glitter paper and foiled paper.
It's as simple as tracing the outline and scoring where there are gaps in the template. After folding on the scored lines, I used a hot glue gun to join the tabs together.
There was a lot of scrap paper that was left over after I had cut out the paper gems. I used the scraps to punch out different shapes such as circles, hexagons, and stars. All the punches I used I have accumulated over the years of sales and clearance buys. Before closing up the gem I inserted a string with a bead attached to secure the loop from which the gemstone would hang. Thing that I love most about creating is having my kids watch me with so much interest. My son loves asking so many questions on what I'm doing and whether he can help me or whether he can hold the gemstones.
Stay tuned for how I made the sign for Ramadan.
