Preparing for Ramadan: Part 1

Welcome! My name is Nissa and I'm behind Wandering.in.the.Universe.  These past two years have been a roller coaster: emotionally, physically, and spiritually.  I've started various blogs but I was never able to keep up.  I realized I had it all wrong so this is going to be my space to share my adventures in crafting, photography and memory keeping.

Currently I'm working on Ramadan decorations.  This will be the first year that I go all out on Ramadan.  In our culture, unfortunately Ramadan is portrayed as something that we HAVE to do.  Not something that is supposed to reconnect you to your Allah and your religion.  My daughter is going to be turning eight later this year and I want her to associate Ramadan with something beautiful.  Something to look forward to.

First I decided that I would make an advent calendar using paper gems that would be broken open each day.  Then I realized that half way through the month the wall would look blah, and I didn't like the idea that all my hard work would be ripped to shreds by a seven and three year old.  So after I had made some gems I decided that I would use paper goodie bags to represent the calendar.

Stay tuned Part 2 will be coming soon.
